Summary

The Fund Managers are responsible for monitoring an assigned market sector and conducting research to develop investment pitches with the support of their assigned Fund Analyst. Fund Managers shall vote on all trade decisions on behalf of any investment with the SIMT. Fund Managers will manage the SIMT in accordance with the Investment Policy Statement (IPS). Fund Managers may be required to defend their position on why the investment was selected by responding to questions and critique from the SIMT faculty designate, SIMT Steering Committee, and Industry Advisors. 

  • Manage, monitor and research assigned market sector.
  • Prepare investment pitches aligned with SIMT IPS
  • Present those Investment pitches with Fund Analyst to the Steering Committee and the Advisor Mentorship Group (AMG)
  • Working with relevant teams within the SIMT to manage qualified securities that align with the SIMT IPS
  • Implementing periodic portfolio rebalances in align with SIMT IPS
  • Ongoing analysis and review of portfolio.
  • Establishing, revising, and monitoring of fund and manager guidelines to ensure compliance (in accordance of FP and CFA Code of Ethics)
  • Vote on all trade decisions on behalf of any investment of the fund
  • Submit written trade tickets, signed by all present Fund Managers, and the SIMT Faculty Designate lead.
  • Attend regular weekly SIMT meetings on SAIT campus or online
  • Highly respectful and honest.
  • Capable of handling a great deal of responsibility.
  • Strong research skills for equity research.
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to act quickly and accurately to identify and analyze relevant information regarding work tasks.
  • Polished communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
  • Time management and being able to prioritize workload with school.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work as a team.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, portfolio management strategies, and equity valuation is an asset.
  • Current full time, or part time SAIT student enrolled in a 2- or 4-year program, preference will be made for those studying the Business Administration diploma and the Bachelor of Business Administration Accounting, or Finance majors. 
  • Required to sign an agreement with the SIMT outlining that they shall adhere to either the FP Canada or the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

Summary

Fund Analysts play a significant role in the support of the Fund Managers.  Each Fund Analyst shall be assigned to a Fund Manager who shall mentor and train their appointed Fund Analyst. Working collaboratively with their Fund Managers, Fund Analysts will assist in the research, analysis and presentation that goes into a stock pitch. 

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on their assigned market sector to come up with potential investments for the SIMT.
  • Provide Fund Managers with sufficient research and information to pitch an investment to the SIMT.
  • Fund Analysts shall aid in the creation of presentations that shall be presented to Members of the SIMT.
  • Participate in pitch presentations as directed by SIMT Faculty Designates and Fund Managers.
  • Review the trades conducted by the Fund Managers monthly and complete evaluation reports on Fund Manager performance. 
  • Submit a written report to the SIMT Faculty Designate following each fiscal quarter assessing whether the Fund Managers managed the fund in accordance with the Investment Policy Statement (IPS), and in accordance with the FP Canada or CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

Summary

A support role to aid the executive team in all and any matter of administrative duties.  Working as an executive assistant and scribe for the executive team and the Steering Committee during and outside of meetings, creating meeting agendas and meeting minutes, handling deliverables and materials, being the point of contact for external inquiries from the student body and helping to inform and promote the club and its goals. 

  • Attending executive meetings and preparing the meeting agenda in conjunction with the executive teams.
  • Sending out meeting minutes after all meetings.
  • Sending out emails on behalf of the club.
  • Engaging with the student body, answer all inquiries to the best of your abilities.
  • Ensuring meetings run smoothly and are being recorded.
  • Delivering materials to all responsible parties.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Legal Assistant

Summary

A support role to aid the executive team in all areas of legality and governance. This will include the fund’s daily operations to ensure all practices are highly moral and legally clean. The Legal Assistant will help the executive team better understand the legal issues of running a student fund and advocate and speak on their behalf on all things legal. 

  • Ensuring everyone has completed the required documentation and other requirements of the SIMT and keeping everyone up to date on these.
  • Going over the club’s governance framework closely and bringing to attention anything that might need revision.
  • Suggesting revisions to the governance framework and implementing them as they are approved.
  • Knowledgeable about legal issues and laws along with standard practices in Alberta.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized.
  • Punctual with great time management skills and an ability to create and adhere to a timeline.
  • Dependable and committed.

Summary

A support role to aid in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to ensure continuity of the SIMT and ease of succession. Helping create, reframe, and monitor the processes as the club grows and needs change. Supplies additional support on recruitment best practices and policies. Works alongside the executive team and the SIMT members to help fill the roles and will be in charge of creating and conducting interviews. 

  • Managing the application process, including resume reviewing, interviewing, and selecting applicants.
  • Helping facilitate the training and understanding of successful candidates.
  • Maintaining standard code of practice and ensuring all forms are signed.
  • Promoting the club and other recruitment measures.
  • Attending executive meetings and ensuring that the candidates are successful in their onboarding process.
  • Creating and maintaining the recruitment and selection processes to fit clubs changing needs.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Summary

A support role to supply all marketing and promotional materials for the club, creating and maintaining club content and club branding and image. Includes posting online materials and maintaining all social media accounts.

  • Create content for all social media platforms.
  • Post and monitor content through Hootsuite analytics, as well as live engagement on each platform.
  • Develop promotional materials for events and meetings including presentations, business cards, standard documentation, etc.
  • Monitor and adhere to brand standards implemented and make adjustments as needed.
  • Act as an internal ambassador for the SAIT brand as well as any partner brands to ensure correct usage of logos and content (also responsible for acquiring any external logos or regulations).
  • Work in tandem with the executive team to assist in the promotion of events and recruitment opportunities.
  • Work in tandem with the website development team to create and implement website content as well as overall delivery strategy as needed.
  • Develop annual marketing budget proposal.
  • Creative minded.
